When shopping for a diamond, you will enter a world with its own unique language that is full of unknowns. Several questions should immediately occur to you. What should I look for? How can I tell a good diamond from a poor one? How do I know whether the person I am buying from is telling me the truth?
Diamonds come in all shapes, sizes & levels of quality. The combination of these determines the cost.
Diamonds have a standardized language (system) for quality grading. The most widely used system is the one taught by and used at the Gem Trade Laboratory of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), started in the 1950’s. While other grading systems exist, they are not as commonly used in today’s diamond market.
To establish a diamond’s quality, we examine each of the 4C’s- Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat Weight. The combination of the 4C’s determines the value of a diamond. As a consumer you have one additional C to consider- Confidence. You should have complete confidence in the person from whom you are buying a diamond.
No website can compete with a face to face presentation.
When shopping for a diamond, you need more than a GIA Grading Report to determine the better diamond. You need the expert advice from a Gemologist to explain why one diamond is better than another- why one diamond is cut better or why one diamond might have fewer inclusions, even though it has the same Clarity grade as another diamond. Shopping for a diamond is different from shopping for any other product.
If you are shopping for jewelry, wouldn't it make sense to see the workmanship of the jewelry or to feel if it is comfortable on you? And of course no website can assist you with custom-designing a piece of jewelry for you.
There is nothing better than seeing and feeling the beauty of a diamond in person.
For many people, a diamond engagement ring is one of the most important and symbolic pieces of jewelry they will ever own. Therefore, choosing the style and shape that looks best and complements someone’s lifestyle involves trying on many different rings. For example, If someone is very active and athletic or works with her hands, she may want a smaller diamond set in a low setting.
We urge you to take a tour through our Education section, even if you have done so at other sites, you might learn something new.

Many people ask: Which "C" is the most important?
A diamond's quality depends on a combination of all four "C's". However, we believe the most critical of these is the cut, more than any other factor, it determines the brilliance and beauty of a diamond. A well cut diamond can hide inclusions or give a whiter, more brilliant appearance.
